Does SCPR host events?
Yes, SCPR hosts a major conference every other year. SCPR also organizes smaller events periodically. Find information about our upcoming conference here.
Is SCPR limited to a particular discipline?
No, any perspective that engages methodologies drawn from continental philosophy for the study of religion is welcome, including philosophical, theological, historical, literary, and other perspectives.
What does SCPR mean by Continental Philosophy?
Any approaches and methodologies drawn from “continental” perspectives are welcome: existentialism, phenomenology, hermeneutics, feminism, aesthetics, deconstruction, critical theory, Black studies, Indigenous studies, etc.
How does the Steering Committee function?
Members of the Steering Committee are drawn from a variety of disciplines. After the initial establishment of the society, members of the Steering Committee will rotate periodically, with at least one member replaced each year. We will also seek to include new perspectives not yet represented on the committee.
